SUSPENSION ELEMENTRY:
When lifting a heavy-duty truck, more height usually means more components. Most suspension lift kits on the market include similar parts because they all attempt to solve the same mechanical challenges created by increased ride height. However, MaxTrac Suspension takes a different approach with its 6-inch and 8-inch lift kits for 2013+ Ram 2500 and 3500 4WD trucks (4th and 5th Generation).
What a Typical Lift Kit Includes
For Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks, a traditional 6-inch or 8-inch lift kit generally consists of:
- Heavy-duty coil springs
- Drop pitman arm
- Drop track bar bracket
- Sway bar relocation brackets
- Radius arm brackets
- Longer shocks
- A front driveline correction solution
Most manufacturers address front driveline angles by using a transfer case clocking ring combined with a new transmission crossmember. This setup rotates the transfer case downward, lowering the front driveshaft output to reduce driveline angles and prevent contact with the transmission crossmember.
While this method does solve the driveline angle issue, it introduces several new concerns.
The Downsides of Transfer Case Clocking Rings
Installing a clocking ring requires separating the transfer case from the transmission, which significantly increases labor time and cost. Beyond installation complexity, this approach can create additional risks, including:
- Potential transfer case seal leaks
- Hardware loosening over time
- Improper internal lubrication of transfer case components
- Reduced ground clearance
- Possible driveline warranty concerns
In short, it fixes one problem by creating several others.

The MaxTrac Approach
MaxTrac’s 6-inch and 8-inch Ram 2500/3500 lift kits are engineered to eliminate the need for a transfer case clocking ring and replacement crossmember altogether.
Instead of rotating the transfer case, MaxTrac designs its suspension geometry to control the front suspension’s range of motion. This prevents the front driveline from extending downward beyond safe operating angles, maintaining proper driveline function without modifying the transfer case.
Vehicle-Specific Driveline Solutions
To ensure optimal performance across different model years, MaxTrac includes or offers vehicle-specific driveline solutions:
- 2019+ Ram 2500
Includes a front driveshaft spacer to maintain proper slip yoke engagement and range of motion.
- 2019+ Ram 3500
Offers an upgraded front driveshaft featuring premium 1410-series double cardan joints, a heavy-wall tube, and extended length for added strength and reliability.
These solutions reduce installation time, minimize labor costs, and eliminate the risks associated with removing the transfer case.

For the 2019+ Ram 3500’s, we offer an upgraded driveshaft that features a premium, 1410 double cardan joints. As well as a heavy wall and extended length. These solutions not only minimize labor costs, but eliminate the risk of having the transfer case removed and drivetrain warranty being voided.

Designed With the Customer in Mind
MaxTrac Suspension focuses on producing high-quality lift kits with straightforward, efficient designs. Every kit is developed to:
- Reduce installation complexity
- Maintain vehicle reliability
- Preserve ground clearance
- Help retain factory drivetrain integrity and warranty
The goal is simple: deliver durable, affordable supension lift kits that perform as intended without unnecessary modifications.
Please note: 2025+ Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks may require different front driveshaft solutions depending on lift height and kit configuration.
